Michael Ancher (1849-1927) was a prominent Danish painter, best known for his role in the Skagen Painters, an artists’ colony that flourished in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries in the northernmost part of Denmark. He was married to Anna Ancher, herself a celebrated artist and an influential member of the Skagen community.
