William Morris (1834-1896) was one of the central figures of the British Arts and Crafts movement. His designs for wallpapers, textiles, stained glass and interiors helped define the look of nineteenth-century decorative art, combining dense natural forms with carefully balanced repeating patterns.

Morris founded Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co. in 1861, later Morris & Co., producing some of the most recognisable decorative designs of the period, including Trellis, Fruit, Acanthus, Honeysuckle and Willow Bough.
