Harriett Mary Bennett (1852-1932) was an illustrator who worked extensively, and perhaps exclusively, for Ernest Nister Publishers.
Harriett was born in Islington, London, the daughter of accountant Thomas Colling Bennett and Harriett Bennett (nee Salthouse).
Harriett and her sister Kate were pupils of John Packer RW and both their works were featured together in an 1887 exhibition. She continued to work in Forest Hill, London, and exhibited many paintings at the Royal Academy between 1877 and 1892, specialising in nineteenth-century figure subjects.
Harriett married Thomas William Lovegrove (1844-1926) in 1898 and after that, appears to have given up illustrating.
She died a widow at the age of 79 on 22nd February 1932 in Rustington, Sussex, leaving an estate of £15,175.
